Brewing advice for Filter Coffee or Espresso
With these beans, you can make both a delicious filter coffee and an elegant espresso. For the filter coffee, use 30 grams per 500 ml of water, first pour a little water to degas the coffee and after about 30 seconds, slowly add the rest of the water. With 18 to 20 grams of finely ground coffee, you can make 40 to 50 ml of espresso, make sure the extraction time is between 25 and 30 seconds, this way the flavors are nicely balanced.
Lightly roasted
We roast this coffee in our Giesen W6 coffee roaster to about 200 degrees Celsius, just after the first crack. This way, they retain their unique character to the maximum, which you can taste.
About the Farmer
Gloria from Sakami Farms grows and processes her own coffee and also processes coffee from surrounding farms, all run by women. Her coffees have a typical Kenyan coffee taste but with a little more body and thickness, due to the typical terroir of the area where their farms are located. In 2021, we bought the first coffee, in 2022 a little more, and in 2023 we bought both this washed coffee and a Natural from Gloria. In addition, Gloria also visited our roastery in June 2023.
