The story behind (the name of) Fête du Café
Short and sweet and www-something-dot-com
With a new company, comes a new identity. So, we were looking for a brandname. Something unique, something inspirational. Something that would tell our story. It had to be international – we’re focusing on Europe and who knows, maybe the world. Short and sweet, catchy and unique. Simple, right? Just a few words. Of course, preferably something with the word ‘coffee’ in it. And, we wanted - really wanted - the domain that goes with it. Because we want to be able to say: www-something-dot-com. Not just a name for the brand, but also a domain that is available. And there’s the challenge. We’ve soon found out that any combination of words that include ‘coffee’ is either trademarked or registered.
With a touch of France
After months of brainstorming, cross-checking and back to the drawing-board we had a list of 50 possible candidates. Unfortunately, none of them really gave that 'wow!' feeling. And then.. there was a dinner with good friends, what a celebration that was. It was so much fun. With good food, laughs, drinks and (how can it not be) excellent coffee! Right there and then it hit me. This is the feeling we want to bring across. A feast. A festival of coffee! And we believe 'festival' really covers it. A festival because it brings people together. A festival because it’s a celebration. A festival because it brings you joy. And then we simply translated it to: Fête du Café. (We frenched it up to add a little sophistication).
And that's how we came up with Fête du Café, the festival of coffee.
